What time does Registration start?
Friday 13th June at 9.00am in the event foyer. You can arrive anytime after this throughout the weekend to register (but make sure you come before your first workshop).
When do I get my tickets?
Bring your receipt from your internet booking (this is your temporary ticket) to the desk when you arrive for registration. We will then give you your weekend pass and ticket in a lanyard that you must keep with you at all times. This enables you to get in and out throughout the weekend. Separate arrangements will be made for people buying just show tickets.
Do I have to book for the whole weekend?
You can do it however you want to. If you want to come for the 3 days or just 1 workshop, it is entirely up to you. You are not tied in to coming for the whole 3 days. It is even possible to just attend the evening Shows.
Am I guaranteed the workshops I want?
Absolutely YES! Your place in the workshop is guaranteed as soon as you book it. It is possible to book on the day if we still have spaces, but to guarantee a place, we recommend you book in advance. Obviously in the unlikely event we have to cancel them for any reason you will be fully reimbursed or offered an alternative class.
What do I need to bring to a class?
Comfortable dance wear (e.g. leggings, or a long skirt, or sweat pants and a t-shirt). Some of you may like to wear soft-soled dance shoes too. We recommend that you bring a "not too jangley" hip scarf for the classes, as otherwise you won't be able to hear the teacher over the noise!
Also, it goes without saying: if you are attending a cane dancing class, or a sword/veil class etc., then bring your own with you as the teacher will only have a limited number available for lending out.
This also applies to bringing yoga mats to relevant classes. e.g. Tribal warm-ups and possibly Pilates classes.
Where can we get food at the event?
As you know, we are having a Middle Eastern Buffets on the Friday and the Saturday night. Other than this there is a coffee shop at the Winter Gardens (that does lovely sandwiches!) and as we are located right in the centre of town, there are any number of places to eat within easy walking distance.
What can we do between workshops?
You can visit the enormous Souk and do your shopping! There will also be 'chill out' areas too for you to relax between classes. We will have a Beauty Zone, for pampering, henna tattoos, massages, reflexology and other fab beautifying and relaxing things!
You can also watch (and perform in!) the on-going open stage performances in the Empress Ballroom.
Blackpool is a real adventure in itself, and if you haven't been before, it is worth exploring. There are all kinds of activities and fairground rides up and down the promenade. You can go for a walk along the sea front, and of course visit the famous Blackpool tower too!
Can I bring my husband/partner?
Of course. Anyone you want to bring can get a weekend pass on the door, or you can order them on online when you make your booking. If they would like to come to the Haflas and workshops then book your tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment
Can I bring my children?
Children are welcome, and under 18s get in free, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. If they want to attend the Show on the Saturday night we have a special Family ticket available.
Can I just buy an entry ticket to watch the all day dancing and shop in the Souk?
Yes, absolutely. You can pre-book the entry ticket online if you wish, but it will cost no extra to buy it on the door when you arrive.
Do I book over the web or do you have a telephone service?
The best way to book is on the website, but if you have any problems with this or special requirements please call +44 (0)207 456 8904 or email admin@raqsbritannia.co.uk
Do I pay you for the hotel?
No, you go directly to the Hotel to make your booking and payments. Have a look at our Hotels page, this will show you how to book and give you details of contacts at the relevant hotels.
What happens if I need to cancel or amend my booking?
If you need to do this then just call: +44 (0)207 456 8904 or email admin@raqsbritannia.co.uk and it can be amended or cancelled for you. However full refunds will only be given over 60 days prior to the event.
Who do I make out cheques to?
Cheques should me made payable to "FIRSTARS LTD". Please also write your Customer Reference Number on the back. Unfortunately we can only accept cheques from UK residents.
Can I pay in instalments?
No, unfortunately this year due to problems with the system last year all payments must be made at the time of booking.
Where can I get more information on Blackpool?
Have a look at our 'Local Info' page, and also www.blackpoollive.com or www.blackpooltourism.com
How is seating for the Saturday Night Show allocated?
Seats are allocated sequentially on a first come, first served basis, starting with the best tickets in a price band. Tickets are numbered, theatre style. Therefore, if you want to be seated with friends, we advise you to book the show tickets together under one registration. If you book independently from your friends, you may be sitting in a different row.
