Friday

This sees the beginning of the weekend's entertainment and we promise you wont be disappointed, with fabulous featured guest artists including Leyla Jouvana, Khaled Mahmoud, The Uzumé, our Bollywood star Lopa Sarkar and a member of the Red Fan Dance company, finishing with a bang with Egyptian Star Camilia!

After the Friday show, the evening continues at 10:30pm in the Ballroom with live music from the "Babylon Band", bringing high energy Iraqi and Gulf music to Sheffield.

Complementing them from 11pm in the City Bar will be DJ extraordinaire Phil Meadley, who has impeccable credentials in the world of Tribal Fusion. Having made numerous global fusion compilations he also compiled the hugely successful Beginner's Guide To Bellydance which included Beats Antique, Solace, and Amon Tobin, and Waltzes, Glitches & Brass: The New Sounds Of Vaudeville, with the help of Frederique and Rachel Brice. He's also DJed on numerous ocassions with Samantha Emmanuel and is an expert in Balkan and Swing. So expect an eclectic Tribal/Fusion mix with some very special guests for his Tribal Party set.

Saturday

7:45pm - 9:45pm

The highlight of the weekend, Saturday's headline act the Bellydance Superstars will be performing their highly acclaimed show "The Art of Bellydance", in Sheffield for the very first time. The show features modern urban rhythms and electronic/Arabic fusion music that shape the Tribal style of the dance, alongside more traditional styles of Egyptian Raqs Sharqi, American Cabaret and Indian Fusion.

Aftershow

On Saturday night after the Bellydance Superstars show, the aftershow starts with The Arab League playing for an Oriental Party in the Ballroom from 10pm to 11:30pm. The Arab League (Tarik Saeed, Hassan Chalf, DJ U-Cef) bring middle eastern flavours to the west a twist, using the universal language of music to help find a form of understanding between the two worlds.

Meanwhile Phil Meadley will host a Tribal DJ set in the City Bar, also from 10pm to 11:30pm. Later, at 11:30pm, the Oriental music continues with a dance party in the Ballroom. The evening will end at 1am.

All weekend throughout the day time we will have live performances on the OPEN STAGE from professional, semi-professionals and those who are new to the world of Bellydance. We will also have a few surprises thrown in there this year so keep your eyes peeled! This Open Stage is one NOT to be missed!! Watching this is FREE with a day/weekend pass.
