Nawarra

Houda Amrani Nawarra (aka Nawarra), born and Brought up in Casablanca, started dancing at the age of five. Moved to England in 1996 after getting a BA in Arabian Dance Drama at Casablance University. Her dance is known for its power with control, exuberance and joy in her music and audience. She is very giving and quite expressive.

Gnawa is a fusion of the Arab, Berber and african rythm, it is a powerful trance: Krakeb or the large finger symbols are strongly presented in the dance, there is a lot of hopping and jumpins as well as the turns in the dance ( Mohammed of Magrebibeat represents a true Gnawa music in his band).
